CORDONS are still in place in the Barkerend area of Bradford this morning following a fatal stabbing. 

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that “scenes are still in place this morning” on Barkerend Road - and other streets in the area - after a murder investigation was launched yesterday.

Traffic alerts are reporting: “Barkerend Road both ways closed due to police incident from Byron Street to Hendford Drive.

"Traffic is coping well. Ongoing since yesterday morning. Diversion: Via bus routes 671 and X11.”

In a statement on Tuesday, West Yorkshire Police said: "Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed on Barlow Street, Bradford. 

"Officers were called at 22.29 last night (October 21) by the ambulance service to reports a man was unconscious with stab wounds.  

"A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.  

"A number of scenes are on including Back Heath Terrace, Upper Rushton Road, Barlow Street, Barkerend Road, Harewood Street and Gladstone Street.  

"Detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are carrying out extensive enquiries.  
"Local Neighbourhood Policing Patrols have been stepped up to provide reassurance."
