A MAN who died following a stabbing in Bradford has been named locally.

Muslim bereavement service, Janaza Announcements named the 23-year-old as Luqman Ashfaq. 

One man, who said he knew of the victim, described him as a "good kid".

He added: "He had a good heart. It's sad to see."

West Yorkshire Police said it launched a murder investigation following the stabbing on Barlow Street, in the Barkerend area of the city.

A force spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 22.29 last night by the ambulance service to reports a man was unconscious with stab wounds.  

"A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.  

"A number of scenes are on including Back Heath Terrace, Upper Rushton Road, Barlow Street, Barkerend Road, Harewood Street and Gladstone Street.  

"Detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are carrying out extensive enquiries.  
"Local Neighbourhood Policing Patrols have been stepped up to provide reassurance."
