THE Lord Mayor of Bradford will receive a £500 donation for her appeal fund next week.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Beverley Mullaney, will receive a cheque for £500 on Wednesday, October 23, at 1.30pm in the Lord Mayor’s Rooms.
The money comes from a cricket match in August held at Bradford Park Avenue Cricket ground, which the Lord Mayor attended.
The organisation ‘Sport Campaign Against Racism’, which champions the importance of the power of sport in bringing communities together and having a positive impact on their lives, organised the event.
Dr Ikram Butt will present the cheque accompanied by seven other representatives.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Mullaney, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part in this cricket match. This event has not only raised funds for my appeal but also highlighted the importance of sport as a power for good.
"Sport can have a huge impact on people’s lives and local communities, and this cricket match has helped to raise vital funds and to show that sport can be hugely beneficial in shaping lives and helping us all to get more active.”
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2024-25, which is called “The Lord Mayor’s Ambition Academy”, is aimed at supporting those wishing to work in the creative industries.
