A BUILDING that was destroyed by fire over three years ago could be demolished by the end of 2024.
Adams Fast Food Supplies on Thorncliffe Road, just yards from Bradford City’s grounds, was ravaged by a fierce fire in June 2021.
The fire closed roads and nearby schools, led to smoke billowing across the city, and required 10 fire crews to bring it under control.
At its height, residents of the Manningham area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed to keep out the smoke.
A section of the building was demolished for safety reasons shortly after the fire, but much of the badly-damaged unit remains standing.
The cause was revealed to be a faulty electrical appliance.
Now an application to demolish the building has been submitted to Bradford Council by Copperplate Developments Ltd.
The application says that demolition is scheduled for early November, and is likely to last around four weeks.
The application form says the site will then be “redeveloped to provide a new unit".
The application also includes a comprehensive 190-page report looking at the current state of the site. It described sections of the building as “structurally unsafe".
A decision on the demolition application is expected early next month.
