New artwork celebrating the history of the village of Fitzwilliam has been unveiled at Fitzwilliam station.
'A Bridge Through Time', which was completed earlier this week, adorns the station footbridge and features paintings of countryside scenes as well as silhouettes engaged in farming, mining, sports, and music - described by Northern as "activities which have been an important part of life for local people."
Friends of Fitzwilliam Station ran the project, and Edgelands Arts created the display with the help of Fitzwilliam Primary School and King’s Meadows Academy.
Morris Barrows, chair of the Friends of Fitzwilliam Station, said: "We were keen to get the children involved in this project and create something the community can be proud of.
"There used to be a lot of vandalism and anti-social behaviour at the station, but that has cut right down since we started putting artwork up."
The project was funded by a cultural grant from Wakefield Council.
