A NEW industrial development can be built on Bowling Back Lane after the scheme was downsized.

An application to build seven industrial starter units, on a section of the former Bowling Iron Works site, went before a planning committee earlier this year.

The plans, by Z Khan, were close to being refused at the meeting after highways officers raised serious concerns that the site was too small to allow larger vehicles like bin lorries to enter, turn, and safely exit the site.

The applicants asked for the decision to be deferred so they could deal with these issues and salvage the plans.

They returned with an amended scheme – for five industrial units rather than seven, creating more space on the site for vehicles to manoeuvre.

The amended plan was approved by Bradford Council this week.

In response to the changes, highways officers said: “In light of our concerns the units to the north of the site have been removed from the proposals, which addresses previous highway concerns.”
