NEARLY 1,500 cannabis plants potentially worth £800,000 have been seized from what police described as a 'drugs factory'.
Enquiries remain ongoing after officers made the discovery in Huddersfield town centre on Wednesday.
West Yorkshire Police said officers forced entry to a large property on Byram Buildings, just off Station Street, and located 1,460 cannabis plants being grown in the upper floor of the building.
Searches and forensic enquiries have been ongoing at the property while the drugs are recovered.
The seizure was part of ongoing work in Huddersfield to combat drug supply.
Earlier this month officers executed a warrant at a property on Macauley Street and arrested a man on suspicion of supplying Class A and C drugs.
In late August, officers seized more than 1,000 plants valued at more than £550,000 in an operation at a property on Emerald Street.
Three men were arrested and later charged with drug offences in the operation.
PC James Hemsley of the Huddersfield Town Centre Proactive Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate following Wednesday’s large-scale seizure and are appealing for information from anyone who has seen suspicious behaviour at Byram Buildings in recent weeks.
“Sophisticated and large scale cannabis factories such as these are expensive to set up and maintain, and are typically run by the kinds of organised crime groups who fuel misery in our communities."
