A BRADFORD man with an “appalling record” for motoring offences has been jailed for driving whilst disqualified - with no insurance - when he was banned from using a motor vehicle.

Charlie Faulding also had parts of two separate suspended prison sentences activated after a judge told him he had “a terrible record for offences involving vehicles".

Bradford Crown Court heard that police spotted Faulding, 24, of Norbury Road, Bradford, riding an electric motorcycle on the afternoon of July 25 this year.

On seeing the officers he panicked, turned the machine, hit the kerb, and fell off. He then tried to get back on the bike but was grabbed by an officer who, with Faulding, fell to the ground and hit his head. Faulding was detained and handcuffed.

Faulding admitted that he was disqualified and did not know whether he was insured. He later pleaded guilty, which rendered him in breach of two suspended sentence orders.

Faulding was subject to a 19-month suspended sentence for escaping from lawful custody, racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of driving without due care and attention, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and failing to surrender.

He was also subject to a five-year criminal behaviour order prohibiting him from possessing, riding, driving, or being carried on any mechanically propelled vehicle.

The second suspended sentence order for six months was for breaching the criminal behaviour order.

He was also in breach of a 12-month conditional discharge for criminal damage.

Sentencing Faulding to a total of 19 months imprisonment, Mr Recorder Paul Reid said: “You clearly have a complete disregard for court orders and for the laws that relate to driving and to the law generally.”
