THERE were chaotic scenes in Bradford City Hall today as a rowdy protest broke out during a meeting of Full Council.
Protesters on the public gallery of the Council Chamber disrupted the meeting, shouting slogans and chanting.
A chant of ‘Your pensions are covered in Palestinian blood’ could be heard ringing out from the gallery.
Another chant contained the words: "Disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest."
There was a police presence and those who were chanting were cleared from the gallery after warnings were issued.
The protest is thought to be in support of a motion put forward by Councillor David Ward, seconded by Councillor Ishtiaq Ahmed.
Yorkshire Pension Fund.
The motion questions some of the current investments made by WestIt urges the Pension Fund to divest from companies that could be deemed to be “enabling or profiting from human rights violations in Palestine.”
The protest took place a considerable time before the motion was due to be discussed.
