In 2011 KEIGHLEY and Worth Valley Railway re-enacted it's opening service to Oxenhope using the same engine and some of the same crew members. Here, in this picture taken by Telegraph & Argus photographer Mike Simmonds, crews prepare the engines for their runs.
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway first opened in 1867 to provide coal and textiles to the local mills. It closed in 1962 and re-opened in 1968 as a heritage railway, with thanks to a dedicated group of local enthusiasts who worked tirelessly to get it back on track.
The railway - which was the setting for the classic film The Railway Children and features in the film's sequel The Railway Children Return - runs for more than five miles through beautiful West Yorkshire scenery, through characterful stations.
It continues to attract visitors from across the world.
