THE first trees are being planted in pedestrianised areas of Bradford city centre as work to transform certain streets continues.

With streets including Market Street, Broadway and Bank Street now opening more widely after having been mostly fenced off for months, work has started to add to the numerous planters that will be dotted around the new plazas and pedestrian zones.

Although most of the work will be completed by the end of the year, it is expected some planting will continue into 2025 due to the seasonal nature of such work.

This week has also seen work to pedestrianise Bridge Street continue at pace.

A contingent from Transport for Greater Manchester recently visited Bradford to be given a guided tour of the transformation happening in the city centre.

Much of Manchester city centre has been pedestriansied for years.

The group praised the ambition and scale of the pedestrianisation work in Bradford and commented on how walking, cycling and new public spaces were working together.
