A BRADFORD school has become the highest achieving ‘non-selective’ state school in the country.
Titus Salt School earned this title after six pupils were awarded the 'prestigious' Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.
The scholarship is the 'most esteemed' of its kind in the UK, aimed at inspiring pupils to become future engineers.
The 'rigorous' selection process' involves an application form, a two-hour formal assessment, and an interview with industry experts.
The successful candidates from Titus Salt School are Alice Bazely, Nia Hughes, Grace Myers, Angus Bower, Finlay Whatford, and Gallagher Wright.
All but one of these pupils have continued their post-16 education at Titus Salt School, pursuing A-levels in subjects like mathematics, physics, and design engineering.
All scholars will be awarded an industrial sponsor and mentor for the duration of their A-level studies, and receive a financial bursary of £250 per year.
They will also have access to a variety of 'exclusive' events run by Arkwright’s partner companies, universities, and trade associations.
Phil Temple, headteacher said: "This is an amazing achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication our pupils put into their school life.
"I very much look forward to watching them continue their Arkwright Scholarship journey."
