A LAW firm in the district has been forced to remove a banner that breached planning rules after a concerned resident complained to Bradford Council.

Makin Dixon, in Keighley, said it was “amazed” that the banner had “bothered an individual so much to go to these lengths” and said the Council would be better spending its time on marketing drives to “bring the heart and soul back into Keighley Town Centre”.

The blue banner, near the top of the premises, said: “Yorkshire Legal Awards, Family Law Winner, Makin Dixon”.

But it has since been removed and Bradford Council has closed its investigation

Jennifer Noel, Partner at Makin Dixon Solicitors, said: “We have worked closely with Bradford Council in respect of this – following their initial contact we applied for planning permission which was denied – upon receipt of their email in September the sign was swiftly removed.

“We offer legal aid services to the community focusing on domestic abuse and children matters and are very busy and admit this hasn’t been high up on the list of concerns.

"We are amazed this has bothered an individual so much to go to these lengths and believe that the council could better spend its time on reducing business rates and could focus on marketing drives to bring the heart and soul back into Keighley town centre. We were extremely proud of our recognition of winning the Yorkshire Legal Award.”
