THERE were "shocking" scenes in a supermarket car park this afternoon as a witness said a woman was dragged around it by a quad bike.

West Yorkshire Police was called to reports of an attempted robbery of a woman in the car park of the Aldi store in Idle at 4.07pm today.

One onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous, said they saw "three guys in balaclavas on a quad bike trying to snatch a lady's bag".

They added: "They dragged her through the car park".

There were "many police cars" at the scene, according to the witness.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing."

The witness is "still in shock, as they kept driving and dragging that lady through the car park".

They said: "It was shocking, you hear those stories from others but I never witnessed in my life such an incident."

The witness added: "You don't expect to witness these things in bright daylight.

"Especially in a local shop where people shop every day.

"You don't know if you can be safe these days."

West Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses in relation to the attempted robbery.
