A BUILDING that was destroyed by fire almost four years ago could soon be rebuilt.

In January 2021 a fierce blaze ripped through a warehouse building on Annison Street, on the edge of Bradford city centre.

The fire led to the second biggest response by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service that year, with 14 engines and 78 firefighters called to the scene.

The cause was said to be an electrical fault - and a cannabis farm was found in the fire ravaged building – which was left as a shell without a roof.

The building remains in a poor condition, with charred wooden beams clearly visible through the collapsed roof.

Now a planning application to rebuild the building’s first floor and roof has been submitted to Bradford Council.

Submitted by Hardeep Singh Saini, the application says the building will once again be used for storage once the work is completed.

As well as repairing the existing ground floor and re-building the first floor, there will also be additional first floor space over a sections of the building that was previously only one storey high.

A decision on the planning application is expected next month.
