POLICE have issued a statement after the bomb squad was called to a building site.
This followed reports of a suspected mortar bomb being found.
The discovery, near the rail network, caused havoc on West Yorkshire's trains on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Services calling at Bradford Interchange among those affected by the disruption.
Northern said in a statement: "Services between Leeds and Micklefield are being disrupted due to a wartime bomb near the railway.
"Emergency services are on site."
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At 4.07pm Wednesday, police were advised that a suspected mortar bomb had been found on a building site in Manston Lane in the Cross Gates area of Leeds.
"The caller reported that the area had been evacuated and cordoned off.
"Officers attended to make an initial assessment of the object and contacted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team for further assistance.
"The British Transport Police were also contacted given the cordon’s proximity to the rail network.
"EOD attended and assessed the object and confirmed it was not viable."
