WORK to turn what was one of Bradford’s busiest roads into a park and pedestrian area is well underway – as these pictures show.

The work on Bridge Street and Hall Ings is taking shape, and this week more fencing on Bridge Street was moved, opening more of the city centre road up to pedestrians.

Street furniture and features such as planters are being installed where the street meets Hall Ings – in front of St George’s Hall.

The work is part of the Government funded Transforming Cities Fund, which was first announced in 2020 as part of West Yorkshire’s devolution deal.

Traffic will be removed from roads such as Market Street and Bank Street, with Hall Ings becoming an extension of the Norfolk Gardens park.
