A CELEBRATION of the humble apple will be held in Bradford next week.

Bradford Apple Day takes place on Sunday, October 13 at Bowling Park Community Orchard on Bowling Park Drive between noon and 4pm.

The annual event is organised by Bradford Environmental Education Services (BEES) at YMCA Bradford and Bradford Apple Group.

Apple Day is an annual celebration of apples and orchards.

This community event will celebrate locally grown fruit and its uses and encourage the creation and appreciation of orchards and the wildlife they support.

The event will have a cafe with hot drinks and cakes. There will be activities for people of all ages, horticultural advice, apple tasting and a chance for people to try juicing using a traditional apple press.

The team will also be selling apples, chutneys, jams and juice made using their orchard produce.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will be with in attendance, running their popular children’s natural crafting activities.

Coppice Collective will also be there carrying out green woodwork activities.
