CALLING all Bradford artists...

The city centre based Trapezium Gallery is inviting local creatives to submit work for its online gallery and open exhibition.

This year’s exhibition, Winter Wonder Wall 2024, will run from November 16 to December 21 at the gallery on Kirkgate in Bradford. It is open to all Bradford based artists and creatives.

Says Ken Woods of Trapezium Arts: “This will be our third Open Exhibition. Winter Wonder Wall 2023 was a great success; we featured 150 artworks by over 40 Bradford artists and welcomed nearly 500 visitors to our gallery on Kirkgate.

“It all started by people sending us their creative endeavours to be uploaded and displayed in our online galleries for people to go online and view. We welcome artwork in all forms - from drawing and painting to photography, textiles and crafts, as well as collage, 3D sculpture, video and even terrariums.

“While we welcome work from experienced artists, photographers and creatives, this is a great opportunity for those starting out.”

Jaz, who exhibited artwork last year, said: “I’d never displayed my paintings before and I really enjoyed this; seeing them on the wall. It really spurred me on to do more.

“Earlier this year I answered a call-out for a themed exhibition at Trapezium and took part in that as well.”

Online curator Lauren will guide artists through the process of submitting work, if needed. The Online Gallery also has a series of Individual Galleries in which work by a single artist or group can be shown.

Down to Earth, which opens on October 12 and runs until November 2, celebrates local artists and their reflections on the challenges of climate crisis. The exhibition is produced by Caro Blount-Shah, who says it “serves as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue, reflection and action towards a harmonious tomorrow”.

Adds Caro: “Down to Earth dives deep into our relationship with the environment, addressing profound concerns about land, soil, and the delicate balance of nature.

“The exhibition also boldly confronts issues of stewardship and exploitation affecting our earth, air, and seas. In a bid to promote sustainability, the artists have incorporated natural or recycled materials into their creations.

“This deliberate choice aims to ignite contemplation on the paths we must tread to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.”
