BRADFORD city centre is undergoing a huge makeover, with ongoing road and pavement works set to transform the appearance of our thoroughfares.

We’ve dipped into the T&A archive for these images of how the city centre used to look.

Below is a view of the city from the town hall clock tower in 1958. It was known back then as ‘Mucky Bradford’ because of all the soot-blackened buildings. The white buildings were the newer ones.
