A ROUTINE stop in Bradford developed into an arrest over suspected counterfeit cigarettes.

West Yorkshire Police's Bradford East team stopped the vehicle in Thornbury.

This was due to a document check.

It developed into an arrest on behalf of Trading Standards.

The haul of cigarettes, thought to be counterfeit, was located inside the boot of the vehicle.

All property was seized and enquiries are ongoing.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Steerside Team X page: "A stop of this vehicle in the Thornbury area of Bradford East for a document check developed into an arrest on behalf of Trading Standards."

It added: "All property seized and enquiries ongoing."

Operation Steerside was formed in 2016 - two months after the T&A launched its 'Stop the Danger Drivers' campaign.
