Let’s find out ahead of your next trip to the national park.

What is the Yorkshire Dales’ highest pub?

If you didn’t know already, the “world famous” Tan Hill Inn (according to its website) situated in Swaledale, near Keld is reportedly the highest pub.

Not only in the Yorkshire Dales, but also in Britain too.

Tan Hill Inn sits at 1,732 feet (528m) above sea level on a hill, of course.

Those who visit the 17th century inn are said to experience “a cosy bar next to a roaring hearth, traditional British treats like giant Yorkshire puddings and guest rooms upstairs, should they choose to settle in for the night,” explains the BBC.

From pies to hotpot, beef bourguignon and even fish and chips, there are plenty of hearty pub dishes to try.

For those who want to stop for a pint when exploring Swaledale, Richmond and other nearby areas, Tan Hill Inn also offers the “very best ‘ales from the dales‘”, some of which are brewed specifically for the pub.

Many customers have praised Tan Hill Inn on Tripadvisor, with the popular Dales pub receiving a 4/5 rating from 1,600 reviews.

Someone shared: “Brought friends who were visiting from Kent for lunch. Missed the option for number of guests when booking a table so our reservation had come up as 2 rather than 4 people.

“The staff were brilliant and managed to find us a bigger table in a very busy bar. The menu was varied and our food was hot and very tasty. The giant yorkshire puddings are MASSIVE. Staff are very friendly and hard working. Enjoyed our visit immensely.”
