A MAJOR road remains closed after a motorcyclist was "very seriously injured" following a crash involving a car.
The collision occurred on Whitehall Road in Drighlington, near to the junction with New Lane, this morning.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area as emergency services remain at the scene.
According to the Telegraph & Argus Traffic & Travel page the road remains shut in both directions from the Valley Inn pub (Gildersome) to Old Lane (Drighlington).

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called to the A58 Whitehall Road, Drighlington at 9.10am today (Saturday, September 28) to reports a motorcyclist had been very seriously injured in a collision involving a car.
"The collision took place near to the junction with New Lane.
"Emergency services are in attendance and road closures are in place near the incident.
"Drivers are urged to avoid the area while the emergency services response continues.
"It is anticipated the closure will be in take place for some time."
