Clayton Library will reopen today (Monday September 30) following a complete refurbishment.
The refurbishment has been funded by the Arts Council England Libraries Improvement Fund along with CIL funding – provided by developers as a condition of large scale planning approvals.
Bradford Libraries was awarded £200k for improvements to 10 libraries across the district, which will enable library spaces to become more flexible and usable by a wide of partners and community organisations, helping to increase footfall and income from the hire of space.
The newly refurbed Library will have flexible shelving, an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities as well as improved space for Library staff and the Parish Council who work with local volunteers to provide a community service.
It is hoped that the improvements to the library space and facilities will continue to expand the use of the vital space for the community going forward.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “The funding from the Arts Council has allowed us to modernise the library and make it more welcoming to our customers.”
