A Bradford salon nominated for a T&A award is a place for both peace and beauty, its owner says.
The House of Beauty, found on Town Lane in Idle, has been part of the community for more than a decade.
The beauty salon is now run by Evie Marie Jepson, who has worked her way up from being an apprentice.
When the previous owner, Joanne, wanted to work less hours, she gave Evie first refusal and asked if she would like to take over.
In less than a year, the 25-year-old has officially taken on the reins and welcomed a baby into the world.
It is a journey that many of her clients have witnessed and been a part of.
Evie said: “She gave me first refusal and because I’d been there so long it was always going to be my next step to go out on my own.
“I like the socialising and everyone sort of leaves feeling a little better and happier. It’s like a therapy session for everybody. Everybody leaves just feeling a bit lighter. Just sat getting your nails done, chatting, you don’t realise how much of a difference it makes. It’s just nice especially at the minute, people have got a lot of worries.
“There’s something for everybody. You just feel a bit better about yourself.”
The House of Beauty has been shortlisted for the T&A’s Best Beauty Salon Awards.
Treatments include beauty, nails, tanning, massage, eyelash extensions and more. The salon’s hair stylists - who have more than 50 years of experience between them - offer a variety of services including colouring, cutting, pin-ups and wedding hair.
Speaking about how she felt to discover the salon’s award nomination, Evie said: “A huge thank you for all the continued support - I didn’t expect it so it’s really nice to know they do think so highly of the salon.
“You don’t always know how you’re doing, you just carry on.”
Evie is a level two and three qualified beauty therapist who is experienced in semi-permanent lash extensions, nail enhancements, dermaplaning, lash lifting and many other aspects of nails and beauty.
Other team members include Aimee, a level two qualified apprentice who is getting great feedback on her massages.
Abbie, the salon’s lash and nail technician, loves to create full, dramatic lashes with lots of volume and nail art with a twist.
Hair stylists Tracy and Angi like to keep up-to-date with “ever-changing trends and fashions” and specialise in wedding hair.
Tracy loves colouring, foiling and restyling. She previously ran a successful business in Baildon for 19 years.
To vote for your winning salon, grab a copy of the T&A and fill in the voting coupon. Running until October 12, there is still an opportunity to help your favourite beauty salon take the top spot.
