POLICE have issued a warning to people whose homes are undergoing a renovation.
Officers from the Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team, which covers Adel, Guiseley, Headingley, Horsforth, Hyde Park, Otley, Rawdon, Weetwood, Woodhouse, Yeadon and surrounding areas, issued the warning following a number of instances of break-ins at homes under renovation.
A spokesperson for Leeds North West NPT said: "In the last few days and weeks, we have seen a few instances of break-ins at homes under renovation.
"If you are currently having some work done on your house, please ensure that all tools are locked away (ideally taken away from the property at the end of each day) and if the property is unoccupied during the work, that no tools are kept there overnight.
"Also consider the outside of the property. Things like skips and discarded packaging for building materials can advertise to criminals that there's likely to be tools nearby."
