Company's new Bradford factory to create hundreds of jobs

Tiffin Sandwiches has submitted a planning application for the new factory and office space to be built next to its current headquarters, on Commondale Way, near the M606.

And the long-standing company hopes the development, which will cost between £8m and £10m, “provides a positive impact on the Bradford economy.”

Tiffin Sandwiches is one of the UK’s largest independent, food-to-go manufacturers, with over 20 years’ experience in large scale food manufacturing and distribution.

It provides food to over 1,000 businesses and over 1,000 universities, colleges and schools across the country.

Tiffin recently purchased a large site on Commondale Way, currently used as a lorry park, with a view to building a new factory as it looks to consolidate the two existing sites it currently rents.

The company is also pushing to become more environmentally friendly, and the new factory will include solar panels and use renewable energy.

The planning application says: “At present the company is split over two separate sites where it has outgrown both the office and warehouse spaces.

“This proposal will bring the warehouse team and head office team closer together not only physically but to aid improved collaborative working, to ensure all employees feel like they are a part of the same team.

“It will also provide the additional manufacturing, storage and packaging spaces required for the present and future proof of the business.

“The proposal will provide a positive economic and site benefits allowing a local company to function from one site.

“It will provide significant economic investment which will result in the continued employment of local people and provision of local services already established in the area.”

Detailing the green credentials of the plans, it adds: “The offices will be naturally ventilated with integrated with renewable energy systems to ensure the building is economical to run with a low carbon footprint. Furthermore the roof will be integrated with solar panels to assist with energy provision of the building.”

Luke Tetley, operation manager from the company, told the Telegraph & Argus: “We are very excited by the opportunity to build a brand-new bespoke factory at our Bradford site.

“We’re looking to create 400 new jobs for the local community.

“As an overall project, the expected cost is expected to be around £8-£10 million.

“As a Bradford based company, we are proud of our roots and hope to continue having a positive impact on the Bradford economy.”

A decision on the application is expected before the end of the year.
