CYCLE to School Week, which takes place between Monday, September 23 and Friday, September 27, highlights the benefits of encouraging children to cycle, including improved physical fitness and mental well-being.
Cycle and e-bike insurer, cycleGuard, has put together its own list of benefits of travelling on two wheels.
They include improved concentration in the classroom, improved health, and improved spatial awareness.
Regular bike riding, it was also suggested, can strengthen the lungs of children with respiratory problems.
Simon Bennett, managing director of cycleGuard, said: "Cycle to School Week is a perfect opportunity to encourage children to cycle and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
"Having provided cover for the UK’s cyclists for over 20 years, cycleGuard is keen to encourage cycling as a family activity.
"With cycleGuard, you can cover up to ten of your family’s bikes at your home."
