A BRADFORD Bulls legend has blasted McDonald's plans to build a multi-million-pound drive-thru restaurant in the community where he lives.
Leon Pryce, who made over 200 appearances for Bulls winning numerous trophies in the club's glory years, is unhappy about the proposals for Shelf.
He claims the "food giants are winning" and that the UK need to "seriously tackle the ultra processed food epidemic".
The proposed site would be located off Halifax Road, adjacent to the existing Esso petrol station.
The 42-year-old, who also played for St Helens and Catalans Dragons in his 19-year career, feels there are already enough McDonald's in the area (two are located on the nearby Rooley Lane).

I vote NO
We already have McDonald’s in the surrounding area.
Wish the UK would seriously tackle the ultra processed food epidemic. Unfortunately the food giants are winning .
I seriously hope it does not go ahead. pic.twitter.com/dxjjKpHrMX

A McDonald's spokesperson: “We welcome engagement from residents on our plans for Shelf.
"We believe community feedback is an essential part of an effective planning process.
“We encourage all residents to visit our project website to find out more about the project and to have their say -https://mcdonaldsconsultation.co.uk/shelf/
