A CITY fan was arrested after a flare was thrown onto the pitch at Walsall.

The individual was subsequently released on police bail but is not allowed to attend any football fixtures in the UK while the investigation is ongoing.

Play was temporarily halted after the incident, which followed Olly Sanderson’s goal, while the smoke in Sam Walker’s goal-mouth could clear.

A City statement said that other supporters in the away end complained of suffering from the effects of the smoke.

The club have issued a warning ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Wimbledon.

“Bradford City AFC would like to take this opportunity to remind supporters of its stance on the use of pyrotechnic devices.

“Pyrotechnics are strictly forbidden, and the strongest possible action will be taken against those found using them, both at home and away.

“The club will continue to work closely alongside West Yorkshire Police around safety concerns at the University of Bradford Stadium, and at away fixtures.

“The throwing of missiles and use of pyrotechnic devices will not be tolerated.”

City are facing a fine from the Football Association over the flare-throwing last weekend.
