A schoolboy has seen stunning mathematics success in achieving the highest score - out of everyone in the UK - in a maths competition.
Yusuf Shah, a student at Heckmondwike Grammar School, was awarded a gold medal for his achievements in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad.
He also received a congratulatory letter from the UK Maths Trust (UKMT), which organised the competition.
The trust's letter commended Yusuf's "exceptional achievement," and continued: "We are pleased that your problem solving ability, hard work, and dedication have been recognised in this way.
"We hope that your impressive personal performance will encourage you and your classmates to continue to participate in UKMT competitions."
In May, Yusuf was in Coventry as a finalist in the Logic and Mathematical Games, organised by the British Federation of Mathematical Games.
He secured a place and funding to represent the UK in the International Championship of Mathematical and Logical Games in Paris, which he attended in August.
At the Paris event, Yusuf got 14 out of 16 problems correct, with the highest score, and fastest time, on day two of the competition within his age category.
He met Fields Medal winner, Hugo Duminil-Copin, and even gave an interview to the French media.
