THERE has been "significant interest" from residents into proposals for a new multi-million-pound McDonald's drive-thru restaurant.
The proposed site would be located off Halifax Road, adjacent to the existing Esso petrol station in Shelf.
The investment aims to transform the currently underutilised site, creating around 90 new local jobs with "market-leading career progression opportunities".
Due to the increased interest, the fast-food giant has extended the consultation period until Wednesday, October 2.
McDonald's says the extension will provide more time for residents and local businesses to share their views on the development.
Additionally, a public exhibition of the proposals will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at Stone Chair Variety Club, on Ing Head Terrace, from 2pm to 7pm.
This event will offer an opportunity for residents to meet with the project team, ask questions, and provide feedback on the plans.
Annie Newman, senior acquisitions surveyor at McDonald’s, said: “We’re thrilled with the level of interest and engagement from the Shelf community regarding our plans for a new McDonald’s restaurant.
"Extending the consultation period allows us to gather even more valuable feedback.
"We encourage everyone to attend the public exhibition and share their thoughts with us.”
Residents can submit their feedback through the online portal at https://mcdonaldsconsultation.co.uk/shelf/
