The Islamic Cultural & Educational Association (ICEA) held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday at the Madni Jamia Mosque, on Thornbury Road in Bradford.
The provision of space for five daily prayers; the hosting of religious and cultural ceremonies such as khathams and bereavements; and the offering of madrassah education for young people were among the services which vice chairman, Choudhury Mohammed Bashir, highlighted as having been given in the past year by the ICEA.
Mr Bashir also discussed the ICEA's charity donations, its officiating of marriage ceremonies, and its work to install CCTV at mosques.
During the meeting, at which 52 members were present, the ICEA's management committee presented their annual report for the 2023/24 period, and members unanimously approved the annual accounts for 2023/24.
An independent auditor for the 2024/25 financial year was appointed.
The meeting also approved the ICEA's annual subscription cost for members.
Six new committee members were elected in a process overseen by CEO of Bradford’s Council for Mosques, Rashad Bokhari.
The management committee agreed to explore ways to foster youth involvement.
Councillor Mohammed Shafiq, Bradford’s deputy lord mayor, attended the meeting.
