A misconduct hearing in relation to a Bradford police chief has been opened and adjourned.

Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood faces allegations of gross misconduct relating to his conduct towards a constable between March 2019 and November 2021.

He is currently suspended from duty.

Another officer who was suspended from duty has resigned.

Proceedings under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020 were served on Chief Superintendent Greenwood in April.

The misconduct hearing at West Yorkshire Police’s Wakefield headquarters was due to begin yesterday (Monday) and was anticipated to last a week.

However Chief Superintendent Greenwood’s barrister Hugh Davies KC requested an adjournment “for various reasons in terms of case management” until 2pm today (Tuesday) for an update to the hearing panel followed by a “substantive” resumption on Wednesday morning.

The application was supported by John Beggs KC representing the police authority.

Chair of the hearing Craig Hassall KC said: “As the application is supported by the appropriate authority, we are minded to grant the application to adjourn this case until 2pm tomorrow.”

He said the case was listed for ten working days albeit not sitting on Monday or Tuesday next week.
