BRADFORD Salem Rugby Football Club will be congratulated for winning the Yorkshire Shield at a civic reception next week.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Bev Mullaney, will congratulate Bradford Salem Rugby Football Club in City Hall on Wednesday.

Bradford Salem won the Yorkshire Shield for a record fifth time after beating local rivals Keighley 40-19 in the final at Castle Park, Doncaster, earlier this year.

Cllr Mullaney said: "We are proud to welcome the team to City Hall and congratulate them on their success.

"This huge achievement has also come at a particularly fitting time for the club as they are due to celebrate their centenary season in September of this year.

"A big well done from us all."
