THE Post Office has issued an apology amid complaints about a Bradford branch's "unplanned closures".

Customer Anne-Marie Whalley contacted the Telegraph & Argus to raise concerns about Sticker Lane Post Office, in the Laisterdyke area of the city, not being open as advertised.

The T&A has seen other similar complaints from customers.

The Post Office said there were "currently ongoing staffing issues" at the branch and apologised for "any inconvenience caused by any unplanned closures".

Anne-Marie, 55, who lives in Laisterdyke, said: "I quite often visit the Post Office and find it's closed when it should be open.

"I went down the other Friday - it was around 12.45pm but it was shut, even though there was a sign saying it would close at 1pm.

"I need to visit the branch next week - I've just had a look online to find out the opening times but from past experiences I've no idea if it will actually be open when I go down.

"It's frustrating.

"A lot of elderly people catch the bus from Tyersal to use the Post Office - only to find it's closed.

"Many people, myself included, want something to be done about this - it's just not good enough."

On Google Reviews for Sticker Lane Post Office, another woman said: "Closed yet again this morning - I've never known anything like it.

"I feel for people who have to walk miles for you to be shut.

"People have bills to pay, money to get.

"Sort it out."

A man said: "I finished work early so I could pick up my parcel, losing an hour's pay, only to find the Post Office closed when it should be open."

Another review, left five months ago, said: "It's a gamble whether this place will ever be open.

"I walk here all the time - 50/50 it's closed without notice in the middle of the afternoon or morning."

The T&A put the concerns to the Post Office.

A Post Office spokesperson said: "There are currently ongoing staffing issues at the branch.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by any unplanned closures.

"We're working towards the branch open longer opening hours again soon.

"In the interim alternative branches include St Johns and Thornbury."

The Post Office's website states: "An anchor of UK communities for centuries, Post Office is a commercial business driven by a strong social purpose: to be here, in person, for the people who rely on us."
