A BREAKDOWN has caused six miles of queues and 40 minutes of delays on the M62 this afternoon.
The delays have been caused by a 'live lane breakdown' between Junction 27 at Birstall and Junction 26 at Chain Bar In a post on X, formerly Twitter, National Highways: North-East said: "Lane one (of four) remains closed on the M62 westbound between Junction 27 Birstall and Junction 26 Cleckheaton due to a live lane breakdown.
"National Highways traffic officers are on scene.
"There is a 40-minute delay and approximately six miles of congestion on the M62 west and a 35-minute delay and approximately three miles of congestion on the M621 south."
The latest traffic alert by Inrix reported "severe delays and two lanes closed due to broken down vehicle on M62 westbound from Junction 27 M621 (Gildersome) to Junction 26 M606 J1 (Chain Bar).
"Congestion to Junction 19 of the M62, Junction 1 on the M621, and the A58 westbound around the closure."
