A DAMAGED tap sent water shooting "30 feet into the air" on a Bradford district road this morning.
The startling incident occurred on Leeds Road in Shipley as people were making their way to work on Thursday.
As of midday, three properties in the area were left without water.
Initially Yorkshire Water believed it to be a burst water main before later discovering there was a damaged tap within the manifold.
As of 10am, the utility company, based in Bradford, was at the scene completing a repair.
One onlooker said: "Just past McDonald's Shipley, there is a burst water main through the carriageway jetting 30ft into the air."
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: "The repair is ongoing.
"Three properties are without water at the moment.
"We delivered bottled water this morning to residents nearby who are on our priority services register while we rezoned the network to return water to vast majority of properties."
At around 2pm, the spokesperson added: "Repair has been completed and supplies returned to normal."
