The Saltaire Collection has improved its website accessibility thanks to a grant from Bradford Council.

An accessibility widget on the site now enables users to adjust the font size and contrast; a playlist of audio stories, mostly recorded by young actors of Bingley Little Theatre, provides a narrative introduction to the model village's history; and there are two new video tours of Saltaire, one with subtitles and one spoken in Urdu.

There is also a 'word only' tour for visually impaired people.

Maggie Smith, representing the Saltaire Collection, said: "As we develop our plans for the future, we want to make sure that our historical collection is as accessible and inclusive as possible.

"We are very grateful to Bradford Council for their funding and especially the Disabled People’s Action Group, Equality Together Bradford, and others in the community for their support and advice that have helped us to begin to achieve this aim."

The Saltaire Collection contains historical material ranging from the 1820s to the present day, concerning Titus Salt's time in Bradford, the founding of Saltaire, the lives of Saltaire residents, workers, and businesses, and more.

Books, maps, plans, and art objects are among the materials which tell the story.

The collection is managed by the Saltaire World Heritage Education Association’s board of trustees.
