A BRADFORD gym is in the running to be named the best in the north.
The Pride Gym - in Moorside Works on Abb Scott Lane, Low Moor - has been shortlisted in the prestigious National Fitness Awards.
It features in the Gym of the Year – North of England category in what is the the UK’s biggest free-to-enter fitness awards.
The annual event recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the country.
Owner Terry Holt, who opened The Pride Gym back in 2018, is thankful for all his loyal members and hopes to go one step further in this year's awards.
He said: "I’m delighted to be recognised for the hard work and amazing team we have at The Pride Gym.
"More so, I’m delighted for our members who are the foundation of everything we aim for in an independent, community and friendly gym where people can come and feel a part of something.
"We’ve made even more improvements since we came runner up last year and we’ve got everything crossed we can win the award.
"Our team and members really do go above and beyond for each other so it’s a very proud moment."
Nine finalists have been selected in each category.
The finalists will now go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will be out to impress by showcasing first hand the great work going on in their clubs.
This stage involves a visit to each finalist by a member of the awards team who will take a look around the facilities and chat to members and staff before compiling a comprehensive report.
This will then be passed on to an expert judging panel to decide the lucky winners.
Trophies will then be handed out by former world champion sprinter Derek Redmond at a glittering awards ceremony on Friday, November 29 at The Athena in Leicester.
Events, in conjunction with leading fitness industry magazine Workout, and are supported by headline sponsor ServiceSport.
