WHO doesn't love burger and fries?
Us Bradfordians have been devouring the combo for decades.
When burger restaurant IceBurg opened on Broadway earlier this year, filling the former Haute Dolci unit, I was excited to give it a go.
Owners had been looking to capitalise on their success in Preston by launching in food hotbed Bradford.
At the time of opening Nizam Mohammed, CEO of IceBurg, said: "IceBurg is thrilled to be landing at The Broadway in Bradford.
"We can’t wait to meet the local community and share our delicious gourmet menu with you."
The promise of Angus beef burgers, loaded fries, and "a range of mouth-watering desserts" put a smile on my face.
What made it more enticing was the lunchtime deal I had spotted numerous times whilst frequenting the city centre.
I thought around a tenner for burger, fries, and a drink seemed quite appealing for those seeking a bite to eat on their lunchbreak.
Entering the restaurant just before the presumed 1pm rush, I sat down for around 12.15pm on a Wednesday.
The beautiful eatery only had two other tables taken - a shame really.
I was met with a menu immediately from one of the two workers on shift.
Once opened, plenty of items jumped off the many pages.
There was a fair few choices from building my own burger to selecting either a chicken or beef serving with various toppings.
Ordering at the counter, I thought I would leave my fate in the hands of those behind it by asking them what they recommended.
The Holy Hotness, 'if you like spice', was the response I received.
Known to entertain the odd hot dish, I placed my order with skin-on fries and a can of Irn Bru (despite the dozens of drink options on the menu, only the Scottish fizzy drink, cola, or water were available).
Fair play to the service - I was only in my seat for approximately five minutes when my order hit the table.
The reason for this became clear when I tucked into the initially nice-looking plate.
Despite the burger packing a punch when it came to spice, it was the warmness of the food that was a clear let down.
Perhaps on a busier day, I may have had a different experience, but overall I was pretty disappointed.
