A BRADFORD bakery where "you get a decent portion for the price you pay" has been nominated for a Telegraph & Argus award.

It is said customers often visit Beth's Bakes, on High Street in Wibsey, sometimes twice a week and become addicted to the products on offer.

It has led to the shop being selected as a finalist in the T&A's Best Bakery 2024 competition.

Nominations were made through our online voting platform and they have now been whittled down to the final 10.

Amazingly Beth's Bakes has only been going since October 2023 and already moved to a larger store earlier this year.

"People say they have been to a lot of bakes and these are the best brownies they have ever had.

"I have tweaked every recipe so they get that flavour that they like. I am a perfectionist.

"We have got a lot of customers who come back, even twice a week. They say it is like an addiction, it is that good.

"I am a mum to a one-year-old too so my days don't really stop."

"I had come back from university and got a flat in Bradford. I started Beth Bakes just to bring some extra money in. I was doing that for a few years," she said.

"I took a break in lockdown. Then I had my little girl in September 2022. In maternity, I started it back up again.

"Last year, I started going to events to build up my customer base. I was delivering around Wibsey, Thornton and Clayton too.

"I got to the point where I was getting too busy for my little kitchen at home.

"I took the plunge to take on my first shop in October 2023."

"I outgrew that shop and opened this new one in May this year."

And what does she recommend new customers to try?

"The cookie pie always sells out. They are always the first to go.

"Our Rice Krispie sandwiches too, everyone is raving about them now."

The voting coupon for the competition will run in our print edition until September 14.
