A “LUCRATIVE” city centre Post Office is up for sale.

The shop in Sunbridge Road is on the market for £129,950 with Ernest Wilson Business Agents.

The business agents posted about the opportunity on its Facebook page this morning and described it as a “lucrative post office”.

It has a remuneration of £90,000 to £100,000 per year and weekly retail turnover of between £100 and £150, according to a spokesperson for Ernest Wilson.

The Post Office has been operated by the same people for 15 years but the Ernest Wilson spokesperson said they are “reluctantly offering the business for sale due to ill health”.

The location is in a “prime city centre trading position” and features easy roadside parking, as well as a number of bus stops in close proximity.

It features a large open-plan sales shop with space to add gondola shelving and a three-position fortress Post Office counter.

There is also a lower ground floor office, two storerooms, a kitchen, and toilets.

Ernest Wilson said there is scope for expansion and diversification at the Post Office.

This could be developing “the currently underutilised retail space and introduce a wider section of cards plus general convenience/grocery”, according to the Ernest Wilson spokesperson.

They said: “This presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire this city centre mains Post Office which boasts an enviable Post Office remuneration approaching £100,000 per annum.”

The spokesperson added: “Could you be the person to change this business's fortunes?”
