A BRADFORD food manufacturer’s plans to expand into a large warehouse building have changed after the company it was to share the space with went into liquidation.

Regal Food Products Group bought the former Folding Sliding Door (FSD) Company works, on Hopbine Lane in West Bowling earlier this year.

Regal planned to sub-let part of the building to FSD.

But FSD, which manufactured and sold windows and doors, entered liquidation on August 16, throwing Regal's plans into doubt.

Now, Regal has set its sights on another property to help realise the company’s growth, but is keeping tight-lipped about the new building's whereabouts - and Regal’s plans.

A spokesperson for Regal Foods said: “We acquired Peace Mill, which was initially going to be a shared facility between ourselves with a partial sub-letting to FSD.

“However, due to FSD falling into liquidation and a more suitable property opportunity presenting itself, we have decided to explore our options and potentially look at renting out Peace Mill, certainly during the eight-week process whilst the liquidators are in.”

Regal Foods is now attempting to let the whole of Peace Mill via agents Mark Brearley & Company, which is looking for a rental of £150,000 per annum for the 45,000 sq ft warehouse, which includes a showroom and offices.

Externally, there is a secure fenced yard area, with electric sliding gates, and a further smaller yard, used for additional car parking.

Peace Mill was marketed and sold by property consultancy Eddisons earlier this summer.

Eddisons' associate director Matt Jennings said at the time of the sale: “We were really pleased to be able to secure a rapid sale for FSD on their Hopbine Lane site.

“The freehold industrial market is increasingly robust due to an ongoing lack of supply and there is definitely healthy demand out there for sizeable warehouse space.”

Mr Jennings added: “It is great to see Regal Food Products, another great Bradford company, step in to take this large unit to accommodate the firm’s growth and it’s a really positive sign that Bradford’s economy is doing well.”

Regal Foods Products specialises in world food bakery and confectionery products and owns brands including Yorkshire Baking Company and Just Desserts Yorkshire.

Employing more than 300 people and generating a £32 million turnover, Regal Food Products has made a series of acquisitions, the most recent of which was Leeds cake manufacturer Love Handmade Cakes.

The firm operates from six sites across Bradford.
