MORE than 100 children from the Bradford area experienced a ‘takeover day’ at Odsal Stadium.
Charities BEAP Community Partnership and the Bradford Bulls Foundation took part in the day, where 130 children and parents were invited to experience rugby excitement.
The event, which coincided with the Bradford Bulls' resounding 54-0 victory over the Dewsbury Rams, was a fun day for the community, especially for many who were experiencing the sport for the first time.
The children had the opportunity to step onto the pitch, participate in pre-match activities, including flag-waving, and engage in half-time fun tackling dummy pads.
The experience was further enriched by the children getting the chance to meet the Bulls' mascots, Bullman and Bullwoman, with many youngsters capturing selfies and collecting autographs from the players.
Hiron Miah, chairman of BEAP, said: "This takeover day was a significant moment for BEAP and the families we support. Seeing the joy on the children's faces as they engaged with the sport and the community was truly special.
“Our partnership with the Bradford Bulls Foundation is crucial in providing these opportunities, and we look forward to continuing to work together to bring rugby into the lives of more young people in our community."
Chris Chamberlain, CEO of Bradford Bulls Foundation, said: "We were thrilled to host BEAP and the families for this takeover day.
“It was inspiring to see so many children getting involved, many for the first time, and enjoying the game.
“At the Bradford Bulls Foundation, we are committed to fostering a love for rugby and building stronger community ties.
“We look forward to many more events like this, which bring the sport closer to the hearts of our young fans."
Parents in attendance also shared their positive experiences.
One parent, Anwar Ali, said: "This was such a fantastic day for our children. The excitement of being on the pitch and participating in the activities was something they'll remember forever. We’re grateful to BEAP and the Bulls for making this possible."
BEAP has been running weekly rugby sessions in partnership with the Bulls Foundation, with an average of 40 children attending each session.
The event represents another step in strengthening this partnership and expanding access to rugby for the local community.
BEAP empowers young people through education, sports, and engagement activities.
The Bradford Bulls Foundation is the charitable arm of the Bradford Bulls Rugby League Club which delivers projects and promotes rugby league within the community.
