A RESTAURANT which opened with a chef who worked in a renowned hotel has been put up for sale.

Chaskah, on Great Horton Road, Bradford is being offered to potential buyers for £39,000, almost one-and-a-half years after opening.

The eatery, which also offers takeaway and catering, has been brought to the market by Ernest Wilson Business Agents.

A post on Ernest Wilson's Facebook page on Sunday said: "With a genuine reason for selling, we are looking for a great buyer for this popular restaurant."

A spokesperson for the business agents added: "An exciting opportunity to acquire this superb restaurant, currently offering traditional Kashmiri-style cuisine.

"The premises are situated in one of the best trading positions in Bradford city centre and sees huge footfall along this street."

The owners of Chaskah are "reluctantly selling the business" due to them both having "full time jobs in the financial sector and a key member of staff having to relocate back to London", according to the Ernest Wilson spokesperson.

Chaskah opened near the Alhambra on March 13, 2023, replacing the Syrian restaurant Aleppo.

The 30-seater restaurant served up dishes such as Chapli Kebab, Papri Chaat, Nihari, Lahori Haleem and Special Tadka Dhaal, as well as desserts, including Lahori Falooda, Kheer, Kulfis, Gajar Halwa and Zarda Rice.

One of the owners Shahid Hussain, who has 20 years of working in project management, brought "one of the best chefs" to Bradford for the restaurant.

Faisal Mehmood, who has more than two decades of culinary and hospitality experience and worked at a well-renowned hotel in London, spoke to the Telegraph & Argus back in March last year, prior to opening.

He said: “My passion and dedication for food shows through the dishes I prepare.

"My food will make you want to come back again and again."

The spokesperson for Ernest Wilson said Chaskah has a weekly turnover of £1,000.

Stairs in the building lead to a counter area with a pizza oven and extractor behind, with an open-plan seating area.

There is a storage area and commercial kitchen to the rear with a host of equipment and an extraction system, while there is a further store and two toilets on the first floor.

The business also benefits from a separate retail unit, measuring roughly 4.4 metres by 2 metres - which is currently unused.

This could be sub-let and generate further income, subject to any necessary consents, according to the Ernest Wilson spokesperson.

They added: "Tremendous potential for full-time working owners who can fully devote their time, extend the openings, develop the menu etc."
