THE Secretary of State has given notice of a proposal to close a road in Holme Wood.

The order is for the stopping up of the whole of the highway, known as Purbeck Court, including its car parking area.

The order is to enable development work given permission by Bradford Council.

Copies of the draft order and relevant plan are available to look at during opening hours at Holme Wood Library on Stirling Crescent, Broadstone Way and may be obtained, free of charge, from quoting NATTRAN/Y&H/S247/5788.

Anyone wishing to object to the proposed order is asked to state their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk or National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR, quoting the above reference. Objections should be received by midnight on August 28.

Other announcements by Bradford Council are:

* Temporary closure of Shetcliffe Lane, Bierley, for water works to be carried out.

The order affects the length of Shetcliffe Lane from a point at the side of No 17 Burberry Close to a point at the side of No 17 Burberry Close. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Alternative routes for traffic will be via Shetcliffe Lane (unaffected section), Tong Street, Dawson Lane, Ferrand Avenue and vice versa.

The order will run from 8am on August 27 until 6pm on August 29.

* Prohibition of Driving (Road Closure) at Shay Lane, Heaton.

Both the road closure, and prohibition of driving, will be from a point 80 metres southeast of the junction with Heaton Royd Lane to a point 50 metres northwest of the junction with Shay Close.
