ORGANISERS have confirmed where a major beer festival will be held next year - after it emerged it would not take place at Bradford Live.

Earlier this year, senior members from Bradford Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) told the Telegraph & Argus that the organisation's national Great British Beer Festival Winter had been due to be held at Bradford Live in February.

But the members said that amid "stonewalling" from the Birmingham-based NEC group, CAMRA had no option but to move the event to a venue outside the city.

It has now been confirmed the Great British Beer Festival Winter will take place at the Magna Centre in Rotherham between February 12 and 15.

Speaking to the T&A earlier this year, Ricky Holden, a long-serving member of Bradford CAMRA, described the news as "disastrous" for Bradford, saying the festival would have brought large numbers of people to the city.

The NEC Group - which was unveiled as operator of Bradford Live back in 2017 - has repeatedly declined to confirm its commitment to the £50.5 million venue.

The T&A approached the NEC Group and asked for a response to the concerns raised by Bradford CAMRA.

No response was provided.
