OPPORTUNITIES in the space industry for Yorkshire businesses have been highlighted at a special event.
The Space Readiness event, held at Leeds' Royal Armouries Museum and organised by Lockheed Martin and RTC North, was designed to help companies find ways to grow into new markets.
More than 80 people attended the invitation-only event in all, hearing from speakers including Lockheed Martin UK's head of supply chain, Helen Meston, and Lockheed Martin’s head of product assurance, Rupinder Dale.
Also speaking was Atanu Chaudhuri of Durham University Business School, who reported on Durham's space research.
A team from Hellios gave presentations about their JOSCAR supply chain data management system.
Mandy Ridyard, business advisor to West Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin and chair of Space Hub Yorkshire, who spoke at the event, said: "It was fantastic to host this event in West Yorkshire as part of our mission to provide more opportunities for the brilliant businesses in our region.
"This spotlight on our world class supply chain highlights the expertise and talent found in our region, and the dynamic network of businesses that make up our collaborative space cluster."
A panel discussion with all the speakers gave attendees the chance to ask questions.
