A CAT-loving family whose moggie went missing last year have at last been reunited with their pet - after she turned up 13 miles away.
Jayne Oladipupo and her two teenage children had given up hope of seeing Cutie ever again after the 13-year-old tortoiseshell puss went missing from the Bradford family’s home in November last year.
“We posted her picture on social media boards, knocked on all our neighbours’ doors, and called round all the vets in the Bradford area,” said Jayne.
“My children hoped she would return but there was no sign of her for nine months.
“I kept seeing a missed call from Donaldson Vets in Huddersfield. I’m not familiar with them so didn't answer. On the fifth call I decided to answer, only to be told they had Cutie and she had been cared for by a caring cat lover for the past two or three months!”
Cutie was found to be fit and well after being checked over by the vet.
“I burst into tears of joy and alerted my two children Kiera,19, and Jayemm ,17, who were very eager to see their beloved pet of 13 years.”
“I have spoken with the lady who returned Cutie to us. She said that Cutie was very cautious at first. Cutie looked very thin."
She said the lady had fed Cutie, to get her trust, for around three months.
It took months before Cutie would allow the lady to get close to her.
“I can't imagine where'd she been before that and how she's been surviving for the seven months before that," said Jayne.
She thinks Cutie may have jumped into a delivery van.
“All of our family are as shocked as we were to see Cutie back with us after so long," Jayne added.
“We are overjoyed that she's back with us.
“We sent a thank you card and flowers via the vets to the kind lady who took her to get her chip read with all our details on it.”
While Cutie was pleased to see her old family, the feline isn’t so chuffed with new additions to the household. After nine months without a pet, the Forrest family decided to acquire two kittens.
“Cutie is settling in very well, but she's not overjoyed by her two little brothers,” said Jayne.
“My sister said that Cutie left because Kiera (my daughter) who Cutie spent most of her time with, had left for university in Manchester in September. Cutie seemed to be waiting for her and because she didn't come back for her, she left.”
“My children were hopeful the whole time she had been gone.”
